Located on the edge of the cypress-laden Lumbre River, Dan and Tina Smith created this vineyard as part of their vision to keep the family estate alive. Their award-winning wines can be sampled Monday to Friday, from 12:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m., along with tours of the vineyard. Come on Jazzy Fridays and stay for live music in an outdoor tent from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. Or visit on a quiet weekday afternoon for a relaxing glass of wine on the outdoor patio.
Locklear Vineyard & Winery
Schedule a visit to Locklear Vineyard & Winery and meet the small family behind the success of this award-winning commercial winery. Run by brothers Charlie and Daryl Locklear, this vineyard was born of a vision shared between the two brothers and years of hard work. Every aspect of the winery was designed and built by members of the family. The grape varietals in this vineyard are primarily Noble and Carlos Muscadines. Free samples and tours are available with an online reservation.
Stephens Vineyard & Winery
Take a trip to Stephens Vineyard & Winery, and chances are you may come home with more than just a few bottles of wine. This award-winning North Carolina winery also produces and sells ciders, jellies, and jarred vegetables. Muscadine grapes are the mainstay here, though this winery has branched out to include a variety of sweet and semi-sweet fruit wines. Visit and pull up a chair on their outdoor porch for a glass of sweet watermelon wine. Be sure to schedule your tour of this rustic vineyard in advance.
