Are you overdue for a night at the theater? If you’re missing catching dramas, comedies, and musicals, you can enjoy all of these online courtesy of the Givens Performing Arts Center.
Grab a spot on the couch inside our apartments in Pembroke, NC and catch one of these upcoming shows.
Macbeth
UNCP Theatre presents their performance of Macbeth by the great William Shakespeare. First performed around 1606, the play tells the bloody tale of the king of Scotland and his defeat. A classic English play, Macbeth's plot is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Piano Performances
If you're more in the mood for music, several piano concerts by the Givens Performing Arts Center faculty are just a click away. Professor Jae Won Kim plays "Midnight on the Cliffs," while Dr. Mark Andersen performs an original piece. Then there is this performance of a song by Dr. Andersen, called "The River's Wrath," which he wrote following the great Robeson County flood of 2017.
Spoken Word
Spoken word has taken off as an art form since Brandon Leakes was crowned the winner of America's Got Talent in 2020. Enjoy the work of LeJuane Bowens, who performed original pieces for a Givens Performing Arts Center virtual session. Bowens calls Fayetteville home but has traveled the country inspiring the public with his poetry.
